Your Purestream Reverse Osmosis unit contains a TFC membrane.

`Newer technology (thin-film composite (TFC) membranes) achieves somewhat greater water purity than earlier technologies (cellulose acetate, cellulose triacetate, etc.) However these TFC RO systems achieve this greater performance at the cost of increased membrane fouling and breakdown.

Reverse osmosis membrane fouling and breakdown is probably the most common problem in the entire water business. The new TFC membrane RO systems are much more susceptible to oxidation and must incorporate some type of carbon pre-filter to eliminate chlorine which would destroy the sensitive TFC membrane'.

Your service mode allows regular flushing of your membrane to maintain the 98% removal of contaminants.
Flush 2 - 3 times a year
